Hot Weather Tech Tips

The summer months can call for lots of traveling, and even being outdoors more often (whether you are working or not). We have compiled a list of hot weather technology tips that might help with the upcoming heat!

1. Keep gadgets out of direct sunlight (and hot cars)
Keeping your gadgets in direct sunlight or letting them overheat in the car can cause permanent damage. Instead of leaving it in the car turn it off and put it in your bag or pocket. To avoid direct sunlight make sure you put the gadget in a bag or under a towel or umbrella when you are not using it.

2. Don't keep gadgets in checked bags
Most airlines don't guarantee the safety of your checked bags. If you are traveling this summer be sure to keep your gadgets on you or in your carry on.

3. Don't trust the airport Wi-Fi
Or any other public unsecured internet connection. We have mentioned it before but bank account information and credit card information can be much more susceptible to hackers on a public connection.

4. Completely shut down your laptop when it's not in use
Laptops overheating can be an issue anytime of the year. However in these extra hot months we should be more careful. If you are using your laptop outside or in a hot room be sure to completely shut it down when it is not in use.

5. Take your smartphone or tablet out of the case
A protective case might be a necessity if you are exposing your phone or tablet to the elements (or children) but if your device is overheating and you have the ability to take off your protective case you may want to do so for a little while. Some cases don't allow as much air to get to the phone so it can't cool off quickly.
