7 Quick IT Tips

At Networthy Systems we care about you! We want you to be able to use your technology as efficiently and safely as possible so we created this list of 7 Quick IT Tips! Take a look…

 1. Use strong passwords and change them frequently.
A strong password consists of a combination of at least six characters. It should include at least one capital and lowercase letter, at least one number, and at least one symbol. Your passwords should not include family names, birthdays, or pet names. You should change your passwords frequently to increase your security.

2. Be suspicious of emails from people you don’t know.
Emails can hold viruses that typically come in the form of attachments. If you get an email that looks suspicious from someone you don’t know, don’t take a chance give your IT provider a call.

3. Don’t leave your electronics unattended.
Make sure your laptops, tablets and other electronics are stored safely before you leave anywhere. If you keep sensitive information a flash drive it is a good idea to get a flash drive that attaches to your key ring, you will have much less of a chance of loosing it!

4. Be aware of what you do on “Free Wi-Fi”.
Wi-Fi at cafés and other open networks can be risky if you are using websites that require bank information or credit card information. Sensitive browsing should be done on devices and networks that you trust to avoid theft.

5. Purchase protective software.
There are several products that offer protection to your computer. Networthy Systems can tell you which protective options will work best for your computer and business.

6. Back up your data regularly and often.
Backing up your data will prevent expensive downtime. We use two offsite locations to store your valuable data so if something happened to your office your data would still be safe.

The best thing you can do to protect yourself and your network is to stay informed. If you have any questions give us a call!
